I was reading about this diet called “Whole30.” One of the FAQ was “isn’t it hard to not eat [insert forbidden food here]?”
And the answer was something like “no…giving birth to a child is hard. Losing a parent is hard. Fighting cancer is hard. Not eating candy is not hard.”
Actually, I gave birth and I lost a parent to cancer while my other parent had cancer. I did all of those at the same time, pretty much. I still don’t find it easy to control my diet. It just becomes harder when everything else piles up, to have to stop even eating the things I like. I am expending so much energy trying to survive bereavement and motherhood that there isn’t much mental energy left over to worry about what I eat. *sigh*
Anyway, I need to lose 20 lbs.
